MP3 player not detected
Last Updated: August 12th, 2008

Summary:

  • Several factors may affect the detection of an MP3 player (or any USB devices) connected to a PC. These factors can include such things as outdated software, issues with physical connections between the player and PC, incompatible Windows versions, and corrupted or outdated firmware.
  • If an MP3 player is reported working properly in Device Manager, but it is not detected or listed in Windows Media Player or Creative Media Explorer, it is often necessary to modify a permission setting in the system registry.

If you can not find your player listed in Windows Device Manager, Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource, or Creative Media Explorer or if you receive a message about "Player Not Detected", or "Player is Busy" please verify the following procedures.
